Christine + Keith {Soft Vintage +Rustic Chic}

When we met for Christine's final walk through at Olde Dobbin Station, the sun was shining, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Truly, it was one of those perfect days that are a rarity in Houston. If a ceremony is scheduled outside, I am always sure there is a plan B as you never know what will happen with our finicky weather. In almost 6 years of wedding planning, I have never needed to actually use the backup plan, and with the great weather streak we were having, I definitely didn't think we would need it this time. Low and behold, not only did it rain the day before the wedding, but it was a total monsoon! It rained so hard, and so much, that water was entering the inside of the venue from under the front door! I have never been so glad to have that backup plan! Not only did we use plan B for the ceremony, but I think it turned out even more beautiful and unique than with an outdoor ceremony. Christine and Keith were married in the old train station, Olde Dobbin Station, in Montgomery, Texas. This is truly a venue that you aren't going to find in the heart of the city, but venture out just a bit, and you will come across this amazing find! With exposed brick, stained cement floors, and an open floor plan, the possibilities at Olde Dobbin Station are endless!

Christine filled up this space following her vision of combining elements that were rustic, but with elegance, along with soft vintage touches that added splashes of romance. Both sides complimented her style wonderfully.

For the reception, the wedding party sat at a rectangular head table with chiavari chairs, draped with burlap and lace bows, and the table was beautifully lined with the bridesmaids bouquets in mason jars, which were dressed up by the bride's creative mother. Christine and Keith also had their own bride and groom's signs adorning their seats, and personalized glasses to enjoy all night (not that they spent much time at their table)! These two definitely enjoyed their guests, and loved getting to spend the evening with each and every one! From the Grand March, in honor of Keith's family, to the Aggie War Hymn, the bride and groom never left the dance floor!

Emily + Brian {Rustic Evening}

 

Emily and Brian are a couple that truly encompass strength. This is evident in all they have endured this year. From a terrible car accident that injured the groom, to Emily's father suffering a severe stroke, this couple has had to rely on faith and each other to get them down the aisle. Emily booked me as her "day of" coordinator, and shortly thereafter was struck with the news of her dad's stroke. She didn't know what the outcome of his illness would be, and decided to lean on her faith. She and Brian decided that by postponing the wedding, they would be allowing difficult circumstances to overshadow their joyous occasion. They relied on their faith for a positive outcome, and it worked. Not only was Emily's father able to be at her wedding, but he was even able to give her away. It was a moment that they will both cherish for a lifetime, and one they will never take for granted.

Oak Tree Manor in Spring, Texas provided the perfect backdrop for both the ceremony and reception. With an outdoor ceremony, the bride and groom couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day and a setting than under the gorgeous oak tree where the couple said their vows. The tree was adorned with round balls of baby breath and lit mason jars hanging from its branches, which were also lit with romantic white lights. The ceremony was performed by the minister from Emily and Brian's church, and was absolutely touching. He reminded us all of why we exchanged vows, and renewed faith in couples, old and young.

For the ceremony, Emily carried a bridal bouquet that had a garden feel and included

 hydrangeas, dahlias, lisianthis, daisies, veronica, succulents, Queen Anne’s lace, curly willow and touches of greenery and berries, and was hand tied with champagne satin ribbon, champagne being the color of her gown. As the ceremony concluded, the bar was opened, and guests were invited to join the reception. Skyline began their set by playing some traditional dinner music, as guests mingled and opened the couple's candy buffet and enjoyed a cocktail.

 

Once the bride and groom were introduced, they graced everyone by preforming their choreographed first dance to, "I Won't Give Up," by Jason Maraz. The reception was decorated with mason jar centerpieces that were filled with paper flowers. The unique thing about the flowers is that Emily is a librarian, and she created paper flowers from book pages. They turned out amazing, and were a personal touch! The mother of the bride sewed burlap runners with lace trim that were out of this world! Lollydoozer's created a spectacular 4 tier wedding caked, in which each tier was a different flavor. It was incredible! The groom's cake (Also, created by Lollydoozer's) wowed the guests. It played to Brian's love of music, and was a replica of a DJ set.

 

After guests enjoyed dinner and dancing, Emily and Brian were whisked away in a classic Rolls Royce, to enjoy their well deserved honeymoon!

 

 



Laura and Derek {Rustic and Gorgeous}

OhMyGosh! Laura was a STUNNING bride! She is such a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was so gracious to her family, friends, wedding party, and even us vendors. Her wedding was held in a small town outside of Houston, and as you drive down the winding roads, you would never believe you were only 15 minutes away from city life. It was like a destination wedding, without the travel for her guests. The venue, Pecan Springs,
holds more of a Hill Country feel, than a Houston wedding location, and was a perfect location for the couple. With our weather, you never know what you are going to get, but April 6th was a perfect day for an outdoor ceremony.

The ceremony décor was kept simple, but it was JUST RIGHT for this wedding and reception. The outdoor aisle was adorned with coral and ivory rose petals. Mason jars holding hydrangeas and roses hung from shepherd hooks lining the aisle. The couple added in their own touch by writing their own vows... bringing friends and family to tears. The ceremony truly encompassed who these two were as a couple. You could truly feel the love, and it renewed the assurance of love in all who witnessed these two join together. Enough of the mushy stuff though.... after the ceremony, it was time to switch gears to the reception... let's party!

The reception décor was fitting for the venue... not overstated, but it incorporated all of the elements to go hand in hand with this couple's vision. Ivory linens with ivory burlap and a sparkle tool laid on each of the tables. The centerpieces were a mixture of rustic lanterns containing pillars illuminating a romantic light, and on every other table were two mason jars matching the ceremony flowers - a combination of hydrangeas and roses - that sat atop a rustic log.

When guests walked into the reception they were greeted with some of the bride's BEAUTIFUL bridal portraits (Motely Melenge), and the entry table was topped with several photographs of the couple that really showed off their personalities. I love that they also incorporated photos with their dogs! So fun!

All Star Catering provided sliders for guests as they entered the reception, and cocktails were flowing! It was time to get the party started!
The bride and groom danced their fist dance to "Free" by Zac Brown Band, and Laura and her father followed with their choreographed dance to "Daddy's Little Girl" by Paul Simon. Such a touching moment!

Guests enjoyed a three tiered split-leveled cake by Finale (delicious), and a Texas A&M chocolate groom's cake (also delicious)!

Thanks to a combination of guests who were ready to party and an AWESOME DJ (Mike Krell, Owner of Eventwise Productions), everyone hit the dance floor! As the night came to an end, guests were saying, "We need more time! We need more songs!" They all wanted more! But, all good things must come to an end, and this is no exception. Laura and Derek with showered with Ivory and Coral rose petals as they left to cheers and applause from family and friends. With that, they were off to honeymoon in St. Lucia (jealous)!
