Cory + Nate {Deep in the Heart of Texas}

I know this post is titled "Deep in the Heart of Texas," but this was no barn wedding! It was an exquisite wedding filled with Texas charm! Stay with me here - The bride, Cory, grew up in Houston, and the groom is from Michigan. The pair met in college at Florida State University. Now, the couple resides in Ohio! With guests, family, and friends from all over the country (literally from Seattle, Washington to Florida), Cory wanted to give everyone (including the groom) some southern hospitality!
Cory and Nate were quite a pair, and definitely compliment each other perfectly, and their wedding was such a fun way to commemorate the beginning of their life with each other... a terrific party with family and friends!

The day began with mimosas, breakfast, brunch, hair, and makeup (by Southern & Adorn) at the Omni Houston Hotel with Cory and her bridesmaids. Which, I have to say, this was a GREAT group of ladies to spend the day with! I loved Cory's whole wedding party! The ceremony was held at the quaint and gorgeous chapel at Grace Presbyterian church, where Cory grew up attending with her family.
From the ceremony, guests arrived at the Omni Houston Hotel, and enjoyed a string quartet by Divisi Strings, h'ordeuvres, and cocktails in the Palm Quart. Guests were able to browse photos of the bride and groom's families that were sitting amongst a "Howdy" sign as well as arrangements of white ross sitting in boots. They were also asked to sign the guest book, but what significant to that was that his was Cory's mother and father's guest book from their wedding. Cory's family lost her father last year, and the guest book was such a lovely and sentimental touch. Chimes rang to welcome guests into the Grand Ballroom, and in the foyer of the ballroom, photos of Cory an Nate scrolled on flat screen televisions. The tables were dressed in navy blue linens, and the tables were topped with gold chargers, confetti poppers, kissing bells, and beautiful arrangements of white an blush flowers. Gold chivari chairs sat around the tables, pulling the complete look together. The head table sat in the center of the ballroom, and the wedding attendants along with their significant others, all joined Cory and Nate around the table. The table was dressed in a blush linen along with a gold sequined table runner, and running down the entire length of the rectangular table were low lying whit and blush flowers - which were stunning! The bride and groom's chairs were adorned with white and blush flowers as well, creating a special look just for them! Also in the ballroom was an elaborate popcorn bar from Doc Popcorn (owned by the matron of honors in-laws). There were so many flavors of popcorn including, cheddar, jalapeno, sweet butter, cinnamon, and even salt and pepper! I can tell you that all of them were delicious! Also, included in the ballroom was a memory candle with a tribute to Cory's father sitting on a round cocktail table. It was placed near the ballroom doors, and was such a touching tribute to honor his memory.

The wedding attendants kicked off the party when they were introduced to the guests during, "Fiends in Low Places," by Garth Brooks. Cory and Nate were introduced to their guess during "Happy," by Pharell Williams, and went straight into their first dance to "Golden," (how appropriate)! Once seated, guests were asked to pop their confetti poppers (A Pelfrey family tradition), and inside was confetti, a paper crown, and a $2 bill for each guest! Friends and family went nuts for the confetti poppers, and loved the kissing bells as well!! When dinner was served, everyone enjoyed a choice of steak or tenderloin stuffed with spinach and feta cheese (yummy)! But, while the food was delicious, it was time to cut the cake, have a few toasts, and get the party underway! The cake was 5 tiers of different flavors (including chocolate and fun-feti cake), and was even made by the bride's aunt! The groom's brother and best man, Luke, along with the Matron of Honor, Cory's best friend, Sara, both gave hilarious and touching toasts. Cory and Nate also welcomed and toasted to their guests who came from around their country. Cory wanted to incorporate something she hadn't seen at any other wedding, and had a signature shot passed to their guests, calling it a "Golden" shot, which was a gold margarita, dressed with salt and lime. The bride and groom made a toast to their guests, and joined them in all in taking the shot, and really kicking off the party! And, a party it definitely was! The band, Password, had The bride and bridesmaids joined the band on stage, and really brought it down! These people can party! What's better than having a bite to eat after a night of drinking and dancing?! Not much! Cory and Nate and guests were offered a slider burger bar and personalized water bottles, and  at the end of the evening, and even had cake boxed up for guests to take and enjoy! I'm pretty sure that the party didn't stop there, and probably continued at the hotel bar, The Black Swan, after the reception!
Cory and Nate were an amazing couple to work with, and I loved getting to know them as well as their friends! Even though this couple is divided from their friends and family by miles, they are certainly not without a lot of love and support as they embark on this journey together. I cannot say enough great thing about this wonderful couple and everyone that surrounded them on their wedding day! Cory was such a gracious bride, and Nate was wonderfully supportive of his new wife through this crazy process of wedding planning! Cheers to you both, and wishing you a lifetime of happiness and fun together!
